News and stories News New Olly Irwin Award Winner Announced 2026 We are excited to announce that Lucie Ashby has been selected as the winner of the Olly Irwin Award 2026 – an award set up in memory of local musician Olly Irwin who sadly passed away in Worcester in 2021. Now in its third year, the award honours Olly’s legacy by supporting young musicians in Worcestershire to develop their skills and overcome barriers to pursuing a career in music. As this year’s winner, Lucie will receive 10 hours of professional studio time at The Music Works in Gloucester, including mentoring support to help her develop her skills and confidence as a young musician, plus a £500 grant to spend on music equipment of her choice. Lucie is a passionate and self-taught DJ and musician who impressed us with her dedication and drive. She began experimenting with music at just 10 years old and has since developed strong DJing skills through consistent practice, alongside playing the drums. She has performed at a range of events including Sunshine Festival. With a growing presence online and her own weekly radio show, Lucie is now focused on developing her music production skills, working towards creating her own tracks and advancing her career in music. Lucie said: “I am so happy to be chosen for this award. It’s going to be such a good opportunity, really helping me in producing my own music and achieving my dreams!” The Irwin family said: “It brings us great comfort to see that Olly’s legacy continues to shine by helping other young musicians. Our heartfelt thanks go to everyone involved in the creation of the Olly Irwin Award, especially friends and family who donated, and those who gave their time to perform at and organise the original Ollyfest in 2022. Thanks also to the team at Severn Arts. We’d like to wish Lucie all the very best.” Lucie will now work with professional studio engineers to bring her music to life, gaining hands-on experience and leaving with a finished product she can be proud of.
