News and stories News Free Family-Friendly Fun at our Summer Festival Worcester is set to celebrate a day of creativity on Saturday 27 June as the Severn Arts Summer Festival returns for its third year. From 10am to 4pm, a range of free musical performances, art exhibitions and family-friendly activities will take place across three city centre venues. The Summer Festival brings local creativity and young talent. Musical Performances will run throughout the day at The Guildhall and in its courtyard, featuring Severn Arts youth bands and orchestras, as well as soloists and small groups. Additional performances will also take place at St Andrew’s Church from 11am. In Cathedral Square, the Music Box bus will offer drop-in musical fun for all ages. Visitors can try out drum machines, electric guitars and DJ decks, or step into the vocal booth. Many elements of the festival will be shaped and delivered by young people through the Festival Makers programme, giving them the opportunity to play an active role in bringing the event to life. CEO Laura Worsfold said: ‘The Summer Festival is always one of the highlights in the Severn Arts calendar! It showcases all the creative talent we have in the county and the pride the young people have in producing the festival alongside our wonderful staff team. It has been a beautiful sunny day for the last two years so we hope that will be the case this year with so many performances and activities to enjoy throughout the city on 27 June. Look out for our new Music Box on Cathedral Square and come and try the music tech or pick up an instrument. There is an artist in all of us waiting to create!’ India George, Projects and Events Coordinator, said: ‘I'm very excited that the Severn Arts Summer Festival is returning to the city centre again this year as it is a wonderful showcase of the work we do with talented young musicians and creatives at Severn Arts.
