News and stories News £11,372 raised at Stu-Fest Stu-Fest, a brilliant music event held in memory of talented musician Stuart Silcock, has raised £11,372! In September, music lovers from Worcestershire and beyond gathered for a night of brilliant music to remember Stu. The event, held at the Marrs Bar in Worcester, featured a line up of local acts and many of Stu’s friends including Ruben Sebright, Severn Collective and Marc Hammond. The night ended in the Marrs Bar House Band playing some of Stu’s favourite songs. Stu was a mainstay of the Worcester music scene throughout the last twenty years, playing lead guitar in bands like Black Cat Bone, Chevy Chase Stole My wife and Will Dance for Chocolate. In October 2023, Stu sadly passed away. To honour him, his friends and family organised Stu-Fest, which brought together all of those who knew Stu and wanted to celebrate his life. A memorial book was left at Stu-Fest for attendees to write in: “Stu you were the reason I started learning guitar. I first saw you on the Marrs Bar stage when I was a teenager.” “Stu, you were the first guitarist I saw in the house band when my dad bought me to jam night as a kid. I probably used your amp and guitar. Thank you for that chance.” "Stu, we love you forever - Quiet, unassuming, clever, hilarious and talented." “We miss you! You Legend!” We are so grateful to Stu’s friends and family for donating the funds to Severn Arts. All of the money raised at Stu-Fest will be used for the Stuart Silcock Young Musicians Award, which will aim to support young people who might not otherwise have the opportunity to progress their musical talents. The winners of the award will receive a year’s worth of fully-funded music tuition so that they can follow in the footsteps of Stu. The Stuart Silcock Young Musicians Award will be launching soon, so keep checking our website and socials for more information. Manage Cookie Preferences
