Introduce your whole class to the joy of playing an instrument with our one-year, First Access Music Education (FAME), introductory programme. There are so many benefits for everyone taking part - improved pupil confidence, concentration, self-discipline and teamwork; professional development for the class teacher.

Regardless of ability, all pupils can take part and learn about performing and composing, listening and appraising, posture and technique. Children are also taught the concepts of pitch (high and low sounds), dynamics (loud and quiet), basic structure, appropriate notation and vocabulary, and will develop an awareness of mood in the music.

"This year we have started FAME at Crowle First School; Y1/2 are learning the African Drums and Y3/4 are learning the Cornet.  We also have a lunch time Ukulele club.  I would like to begin by thanking your staff who support us on all of these.  The children are truly enjoying their lessons, and our music provision has improved greatly thanks to your staff."- Head Teacher, Crowle First School

FAME lessons are for 45 minutes (plus 15 minutes preparation) each week. Schools can choose from a range of instruments – violin, djembe/samba, recorder and ukulele (year 3+), clarinet, cornet/pTrumpet/pTrombone (year 4+), fife/flute (year 5+).

Cost 2026/27: Full year programme cost per session: £56. Part year programme cost per session: £62.50. Instruments for FAME are loaned free of charge. An administration fee of £120.00 will apply per class each time a school requests an instrument change part way through the year.

Please submit your request for FAME starting in September 2026 by 1 June 2026. Please note we may not be able to fulfil requests received after this date.

FAME sessions are specifically for whole class participation. A class teacher or other suitable member of staff is required to be with the Severn Arts teacher for all sessions and to take an active role.
